This picture above is from my first trip to Peru in 2008. These are the ‘homes’ of people who lived in the city of Chincha or Pisco (I can’t remember which of the two when I took this photo that day), and are only three hours by car from where I currently live.
The year prior, a major earthquake destroyed much of their city and a year later Peruvians from that area were still displaced and living in these homes in the picture. Years later there’s still damaged buildings that are still being reconstructed with what little infrastructure and resources some of these areas can accomplish it in.
Below is the video that I was reacting to in this status update. Most long time followers of this blog know I am not big into heresy hunting or “calling out” other people and when I do so, I prefer, when possible like the late C.S. Lewis, to describe in vague ways and focus on the false doctrine more than the person. But many people are already aware of this video due to it having gone “viral” — depending on who you follow on the internet. So here it is.

In 2011 I recorded this discussion with SJ Hill and David Edwards about God and natural disasters. In fact, some of the stuff we were talking about in it that so-called prophets had claimed would happen still to this date have not happened, incidentally enough.
