Spanish Translation for Christian Nonfiction Books
We provide Spanish translation services for Christian nonfiction authors and publishers. This covers two distinct needs: translating a book from English into Spanish, and proofreading or correcting an existing Spanish translation that needs a native-speaker review before publication.
All translation work is in Latin American Spanish. Scripture quotations are rendered from standard Spanish Bible translations — Reina-Valera, NVI, or LBLA — matched to whichever version best fits the author’s tradition and target audience.
Two Services
English to Spanish Translation
We translate your manuscript from English into Latin American Spanish. This is a full translation engagement — every chapter, front matter, back matter, footnotes, and Scripture references. The finished file is ready for formatting and publication.
Pricing: 2.5 cents per word (based on the English word count), quote-based.
Spanish Translation Proofreading
If you already have a Spanish translation — whether produced in-house, by a volunteer, or by another translator — I review it against the English source and deliver a corrected, publication-ready version. This service catches theological terminology errors, regional Spanish that doesn’t fit a Latin American audience, awkward phrasing, and inconsistent Scripture citation formats.
Pricing: 2 cents per word (based on the Spanish word count), quote-based.
Who Reviews the Work
My wife Lili is a native Latin American Spanish speaker and handles the language-level review on all translation projects. I manage the editorial layer — consistency, theological terminology, Scripture reference formatting, and overall project coordination. Every Spanish project that is returned to our clients has been through both sets of eyes.
Scripture and Theological Terminology
Getting theological language right in Spanish matters. Terms that are standard in English evangelical publishing — words like unción, avivamiento, santidad — have specific connotations in Latin American Christian publishing that differ from how they’re used in Spain or in general-purpose translation. We work exclusively in the Christian nonfiction space, which means we know the terminology and don’t have to look it up.
Scripture quotations are matched to the author’s tradition: Reina-Valera 1960 for authors in more traditional evangelical or Pentecostal spaces, NVI or LBLA where the author’s readership expects a more contemporary rendering.
Who This Is For
- Authors with an English Christian nonfiction book who want to reach Spanish-speaking readers
- Publishers with a title that needs translation for Latin American distribution
- Authors or ministries who had a book translated by a volunteer or in-house team and need it reviewed before publication
I do not translate fiction, children’s books, or content outside the Christian nonfiction space.
FAQ
What kind of Spanish do you translate into?
Latin American Spanish. This is distinct from Castilian Spanish (Spain) and is the appropriate register for authors targeting readers in Latin America, the U.S. Hispanic market, or Spanish-speaking Christian communities globally.
How much does Spanish translation cost?
English-to-Spanish translation is 2.5 cents per word based on the English word count. Proofreading of an existing Spanish translation is 2 cents per word based on the Spanish word count. Both services are quote-based — contact me with your manuscript and word count for a project quote.
Which Bible translation do you use for Scripture quotations?
Reina-Valera, NVI, or LBLA, depending on the author’s tradition and target audience. We discuss this at the start of the project.
Do you translate books outside Christian nonfiction?
Not currently. This service is limited to Christian nonfiction.
What if I already have a translation but I’m not sure it’s good?
That’s exactly what the proofreading service is for. Send me a sample chapter and I can assess what it needs before you commit to a full review engagement.
How long does translation take?
Timeline depends on manuscript length and current project load. Contact me with your word count for a timeline estimate along with your quote.
