On Sunday mornings at the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas, prayers that are quietly murmured in most churches seem to almost rumble like thunder.
Thousands of congregants crowd the huge suburban auditorium for weekly services, which feature huge video monitors, an orchestra and a full choir. With 20,000 members, it’s the largest Methodist church in the United States.

The unfortunate thing about this article and the building itself I suppose is that all the talk is about a physical building and not the people who make up the local fellowship.
Believers in Christ are the Church, not a physical building.
Try reading this article and every time it says “the church” replace it with people and not a building. The article then becomes quite hilarious.
Now, I’m not against Christians meeting in a building (hey, we need to meet somewhere), and meeting in house churches is not necessarily the perfect solution (see my post about 5 things they get wrong). But things like this article make me yawn and make a Robert Downey Jr. face when I listen to people act like the solution to the problem is what kind of physical building we dump millions of dollars into.
To quote from someone they spoke to in the article,
“It could be a beautiful old church, but if the sermons are uninspired and the music is boring, forget it. I’m not coming back.”
